Teton County has become the first in the country to be certified as an International Dark Sky Community. Buckrail reports the designation was the result of a decade of collaboration between the county, the Town of Jackson, and Wyoming Stargazing. The county updated development regulations to minimize light pollution and has created a list of owned or operated exterior lighting that will be updated to be DarkSky compliant by 2030.
A Big Horn County man has won a national award. The Sheridan Press reports Ernie Marsh received the National Heritage Fellowship for his bit and spur making. Marsh not only makes these pieces, but also works to pass on the tradition to students and was a founding member of the Traditional Cowboys Arts Association.
A new program in Cody will help people with Parkinson’s disease combat their symptoms. The Cody Enterprise reports Rock Steady Boxing is a first of its kind non-contact, boxing-style exercise aimed at improving motor function and overall quality of life. Cody Regional Health is offering the classes for local patients.
