Wind River Reservation tribal member to star in upcoming documentary

Jeb Schneck

A new documentary explores the life of an enrolled member of the Northern Arapaho Tribe and Eastern Shoshone. Wind River’s Sharmaine Weed has been documenting her life for the past three years as an Indian Relay race champion and traditional dancer. After a long wait, the film, Pure Grit is set to premiere in Denver this weekend.

In talking about the film, Sharmaine said, “It shows a lot of ups and downs about life and nobody is perfect and all you can do is try to make the next day better.”

The film will also be screening for free at Central Wyoming College in Riverton at 4 p.m. on Sunday, November 14.

Signa McAdams is an enrolled member of the Eastern Shoshone Tribe and from the Wind River Indian Reservation.
