Joy Harjo, a Ucross alumna and the 23rd U.S. Poet Laureate and Larry Mitchell, a Grammy Award-winning musician and Harjo's longtime musical collaborator, will perform at the WYO Theater on Feb. 25. This is the first time Ucross has hosted a U.S. Poet Laureate as they celebrate their 40th anniversary with events throughout 2023.

Rosie Berger, a longtime resident of Sheridan County and former member of the Wyoming House of Representatives, will receive the Governor's Woman of Distinction Award on Feb. 22 in Cheyenne. Her four decade long career has been included work with various civic organizations and public service initiatives, including those seeking to increase the number of women in leadership positions in the Cowboy State.

The facilities will allow Volunteers of American to provide additional services and enhance their existing ones as the demand for them has risen. These include mental and behavioral health treatment, housing assistance for low-income and the homeless, addiction treatment, and transitional veterans housing, among other human services. The facilities are set to be completed in 2024. VOA also serves residents in all 23 Wyoming counties.

The funds come from the State Loan and Investment Board in the form of grants, which will allow for more comprehensive and intensive mental and behavioral health services to be offered locally to Sheridan and Johnson counties. The triage facility will be created by retrofitting existing hospital facilities to be better able to care for those experiencing different medical issues.
