Northeast ReporterHugh Cook is Wyoming Public Radio's Northeast Reporter, based in Gillette. A fourth-generation Northeast Wyoming native, Hugh joined Wyoming Public Media in October 2021 after studying and working abroad and in Washington, D.C. for the late Senator Mike Enzi.
When he's not traveling the area covering stories, you can find him further exploring the area, searching for future story ideas, and looking for a great burger along the way.

Team owner Steven Titus, a Gillette attorney, also owns the Billings Outlaws, who are moving to the Arena Football League. This put them in competition with the Champions Indoor Football league, forcing him to sell the Gillette team over conflict of interest issues.

September is suicide awareness month and Wyoming has the highest suicide rate per capita in the country. A new documentary that will be shown in Rock Springs, Casper, Gillette, Lander, and Jackson this month showcases the impacts, attitudes, challenges, and possible solutions that suicide has on the state. Wyoming Public Radio’s Hugh Cook spoke with Brooke Schmill, who created "Turning Point: Ending Suicide in Wyoming."

Wyoming AARP is raising awareness of a scam that claims to offer assistance to access PACT Act benefits. The act expands health care and benefits to veterans who were exposed to toxic environments in the Vietnam, Gulf War, and post-9/11 eras.
