Incoming freshman students at the University of Wyoming will soon have more access to top professors in their first semester. It’s part of the revamped University Studies Program, a core curriculum for all UW undergraduates.
Program coordinator Meg Flanigan Skinner says it aims to go beyond basic coursework.
"The instructors are not only scholars in their field and not only very experienced teachers in the act of learning techniques, but the instructors are really able to understand the stresses that are going on in a first year student’s life and help them find the resources they need to support them," she says.
The University Studies Program focuses on communication skills and creative thinking. The requirements will go into effect this fall. Skinner's comments are courtesy of the UW News Service.
