Flash flooding has damaged homes, businesses and a highway bridge in eastern Wyoming.
Heavy rain sent the Niobrara River over its banks about 2:30 a.m. Thursday and down the main street of Lusk, a town of about 1,500.
Niobrara County Emergency Management Coordinator James Santistevan says water covered about four city blocks.
The flooding closed all major roads in and out of Lusk, including about 130 miles of U.S. 85 from Lingle to Newcastle and U.S. 18-20 from Orin Junction to the Nebraska line.
The flooding caused a bridge to collapse where U.S. 85 crosses railroad tracks at Lusk.
Highway officials are assessing the damaged bridge. Flooding also temporarily closed Interstate 90 between Gillette and Buffalo for a time Thursday morning.
Local flash flooding also occurred in Sheridan.
