New lead in the disappearance of Amy Wroe Bechtel

A new lead has officials optimistic about solving the disappearance of a Lander woman 15 years ago.

When Amy Wroe-Bechtel disappeared near a running trail on the Loop Road outside Lander,  searcher's and law enforcement agencies never found any clues to indicate what had happened to her.  She was a former University of Wyoming track star and people from throughout the state helped with the search.

Though the Fremont County Sherriff’s office suspected that  Bechtel was abducted and murdered, no suspects were charged.   Detective John Zerga says a recent tip has officials optimistic about possibly solving the case.

We do have a new lead of a new suspect…this one looks promising to law enforcement and we just gotta work it through and it could turn out to be just another lead with nothing, but it could be the break we’ve been looking for”.

Zerga says that despite the case being so old, the right tip could still solve Wroe Bechtel’s the case.  But he is reluctant to say much more about it.   Zerga urges anyone with information relating to Amy Wroe Bechtel’s disappearance to contact the Fremont County Sheriff’s department.
