Please join us for a public presentation and remembrance of the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami, with presentations by Dr. David Mukai (UW) and Dr. Susumu "Sam" Kono (Tokyo Institute of Technology, joining via Zoom) on an overview of earthquake and tsunami phenomena in Japan, the experiences of people in the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake, and lessons learned for earthquake-resistant construction. UW's Japan Outreach Initiative (JOI Program) Coordinator, Ms. Yuki Ayukawa, will also introduce cultural information about Japan and lead the remembrance portion of the program.
