Discovery Session: Bear Gulch Geology Hike - Sheridan

Discovery Session: Bear Gulch Geology Hike - Sheridan

Discover the fascinating geologic history of the Bighorns along the trails accessible from Bear Gulch East Trailhead, part of the newest section of Red Grade Trails. Retired geologist Steve Stresky will tell a story more than a billion years in the making as we enjoy a summer night on the mountain. You’ll be able to see deep into the Cloud Peak Wilderness and experience breathtaking views of the Bighorn anticline and valley below from the new Cliffhanger trail.

Meet at Bear Gulch East Trailhead parking lot. If parking lot is full, please carefully park along the side of the road. This hike will be about 1.75 to 2 miles long. It is easy to moderately difficult, with some stone steps on a short section of Cliffhanger Trail.

This Discovery Session is free to attend and open to all ages.
