Casper: Historic Preservation Workshop
Casper: Historic Preservation Workshop
The Wyoming State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) is beginning their initial public input sessions for the development of the next ten-year statewide historic preservation plan. The development of these statewide plans is required by the National Park Service for all SHPOs nationwide. These plans are meant to help guide the actions and set the priorities for historic preservation in Wyoming as a form of policy. Input from all Wyoming residents is essential to the development of the plan. The existing statewide plan can be found on our website for download as PDF. Physical copies are available for pick up at our Cheyenne or Laramie offices.
Public workshops will be held in four different communities in July 2024 with the purpose of collecting public opinion on historic preservation in Wyoming. Workshops currently planned will be held in Casper, Sheridan, Gillette, and Evanston. Two sessions will be offered for each workshop, one during the daytime and one during the evening to accommodate community members’ schedules. The workshops will consist of information sharing, brainstorming, and group work, to help us understand historic preservation challenges and solutions different communities have around the state.
