A Distinguished Lecture by Angela Davis

A Distinguished Lecture by Angela Davis

Please join the Wyoming Institute for Humanities Research for a Distinguished Lecture by Angela Davis.

The event is free and open to the public. Dr. Davis will deliver her lecture at 4:00 PM in the Art & Sciences Auditorium, on the University of Wyoming campus. The lecture will also be live-streamed via WyoCast at this link: https://tinyurl.com/svu743f8.

Through her activism and scholarship, Angela Davis has been deeply involved in our nation’s quest for social justice. Her work as an educator – both at the university level and in the larger public sphere – has always emphasized the importance of building communities of struggle for economic, racial, and gender justice.
Professor Davis’ teaching career has taken her to San Francisco State University, Mills College, and UC Berkeley. She also has taught at UCLA, Vassar, the Claremont Colleges, and Stanford University. She spent the last fifteen years at the University of California, Santa Cruz where she is now Distinguished Professor Emerita of History of Consciousness, an interdisciplinary Ph.D program, and of Feminist Studies.

This lecture is made possible by our major sponsors, the Department of English and the University of Wyoming Libraries, and our many co-sponsors, including African American and Diaspora Studies; American Studies; Arts & Sciences; ASUW; The Black Studies Center; The School of Culture, Gender, and Social Justice; History; Honors; Modern and Classical Languages; Philosophy and Religious Studies; The School of Politics, Public Affairs, and International Studies; and Wyoming Humanities Council.
