Wyoming Through Listeners’ Eyes!
Congratulations to this year’s Wyoming Public Media Photo Contest winners!
We were lucky to receive beautiful entries from all over Wyoming, and it was difficult to choose the best. The winners were chosen by listeners who voted for their favorite in each category, Wyoming’s Nature, Wyoming's People, and Wyoming’s History. We have posted the top 4 in each category below, along with a short biography of each photographer.

Morgan Beavers is a Wyoming-based creative spirit and enjoys a number of adventures, including real estate with Wind River Property Group, photography (Facebook.com/MaryMorganPhoto and Instagram @marymorganbeavers), and a little bit of teaching. Morgan loves reading, writing, hiking and camping, and, of course, sharing the beauty of Wyoming though photography. Morgan is a magna cum laude graduate of the University of Georgia (B.A. Public Relations, English), and currently lives in Dubois, Wyoming with her pup and sidekick, Bella.

Lane Tomme is currently a senior Geography major at UW, living in Laramie, Wyoming. He has always been into the outdoors and picked up a camera back in 2010. Lane usually likes to do Landscape and action sport photography. He is really into alpine rock climbing and mountaineering and has been doing research on the Wind River Mountain Glaciers for the past three years.

Leslie first came to Wyoming in 1972, backpacking the Tetons and Wind River Mountains. Twenty-five years later she began returning every summer to the Greater Yellowstone Area. In 2005 Leslie bought a small fixer-upper log cabin in Sunlight Basin, a beautiful valley in the Absaroka Range bordering the eastern edge of Yellowstone Park. Soon afterwards, she moved to Wyoming full-time.
Leslie is a writer, naturalist, and a trained horticulturist. She recently wrote a book about her experiences with wildlife entitled The Wild Excellence: Notes from Untamed America. She spends summers hiking and exploring the Yellowstone Ecosystem, and winters enjoying the wildlife that descends into her valley from the high country of the Park. The photo of the standing grizzly bear was taken from Leslie’s driveway using a trail camera. This bear was visiting her chokecherry bushes during the day in an attempt to avoid a much larger grizzly bear that was eating the berries at night.

Krissy Borcher is a self-taught photographer. She grew up in Newcastle, Wyoming and currently lives in Moorcroft, Wy. Krissy is an avid outdoorsman. She enjoys nature, photography, hunting, and fishing. Krissy picked up a camera almost 2 years ago now and has never looked back!

Jordan Evans is a 4th Generation Wyomingite and has lived in Southeast Wyoming his entire life. He currently works as a Cartographer for the Laramie County Government in Cheyenne and earned a degree in Geography at The University of Wyoming.
Jordan and his wife Sarah enjoy camping, hiking, hunting, fishing, and driving all over the state with their 2 year old daughter Olivia! They joke that they are pushing the limits of WPR's claim to cover the entire state, and so far they have not been disappointed. Jordan loves this wonderful state and every chance he gets to share its wonders with the world.

Nancy Kemner is a Florida resident whose favorite place to be when she can get away from her law practice is the great state of Wyoming. Horseback riding and hiking the trails of Wyoming are just some of the things that keep her and her family coming back. This picture was taken at Fort Fetterman in June of 2015. Her daughter Anna (the subject in the picture) has been accepted to the University of Wyoming and plans to attend there this coming fall. Nancy listens to Wyoming Public Radio over the internet and follows us on Instagram in order to stay up to date on Wyoming affairs, as she and her husband intend to retire to the Cody area in the coming years.

Alden Ballard was raised in Northern New Hampshire and grew up in Wyoming. Alden lives near Cody with her husband who is a mule packer, guide and carpenter. She’s been a camp cook for pack trips and hunting camp for ten years and is thankful to do this kind of work and to all the people who have taken Alden in and guided her along the way. When she’s not cooking, Alden likes being at home where she’s slowly making progress at gardening in the high desert. And of course taking pictures! Alden is honored that two of her pictures were chosen from among so many wonderful images celebrating life in the great state of Wyoming.

Reid Bauer has lived in Jackson for the past four and a half years and has worked at Teton Science Schools for that entire time. Reid manages the TSS Instagram feed, where this photo may have appeared earlier. He spends a lot of his free time outside, as you might expect- trail running, skiing, hiking, and kayaking are the main ways he gets around outside. Otherwise, in his free time Reid volunteers at the local art center and plays complicated board games. This summer, Reid backpacked the Teton Crest Trail with his girlfriend Lesle and took this photo on the morning of their fourth day, before ascending Paintbrush Divide.

Gary was raised in Wyoming and has spent most of his life here. He loves spending time adventuring off the beaten path and recently discovered a passion for photographing it. He loves Wyoming's solitude and its multitude of environments.
