A Sheridan 12-year-old is the local senior center’s youngest volunteer. The Sheridan Press reports Lucien Simurdak joined his grandmother as she volunteered at The Hub on Smith when he was only nine years old. He’s now twelve and knows the food delivery route by heart. He hopes to keep the youngest volunteer title for as long as he can.

The Bridger-Teton National Forest recently performed some prescribed burns with a unique tool. Buckrail reports forest firefighters used a plastic sphere dispenser for aerial ignitions. Basically, ping-pong balls filled with a chemical mixture that ignites upon impact were dropped by drone over the area to be burned.

A Casper man has prevented over 500,000 live zebra mussels from getting into Wyoming’s waters. According to the Game and Fish Department, he purchased a new boat dock and had it brought in from a dealership in Iowa. It was destined for Alcova Reservoir. He contacted the department to have it inspected, which is when they found all of those invasive mussels clinging to the dock.

And, according to WalletHub, Wyoming is the ninth best state for military retirees. The state ranked highly in the number of VA health facilities per number of veterans and percentage of veteran-owned businesses.
