US Gold Corp has submitted its application for an industrial siting permit. The gold and copper mine near Cheyenne would begin construction in early 2024 and open toward the end of 2025. An industrial siting hearing is scheduled for May 10.

A portrait honoring Matthew Shepard is on display at the Washington National Cathedral. Shepard died in 1998 after two men beat him and tied him to a fence outside Laramie. The Casper native was gay and attending the University of Wyoming at the time.

In October, 232,117 visitors came to Yellowstone. That is a 27% decrease from last year. Yellowstone experienced infrastructure damage from historic flooding in June that forced the park to close for a short period. So far, 2022 has seen a 32% decrease in visitors from last year.

Albany County officials announced that the 12-mile section of HWY 130 in the Snowy Range is officially closed for the season as of today, due to drifting and blowing snow. The road closed Nov. 11 last year.

A Cody man faces charges for supposedly helping his son shoot a grizzly bear near the east entrance of Yellowstone. The Cody Enterprise reports the pair were black bear hunting for the first time and mistook the grizzly for a black one. He will appear in court in a week.
