The war in Ukraine is now continuing into its second month. Russian forces have not managed to take the capital, Kyiv.

The Russian strategy may be shifting. The Ukrainian resistance is holding, and President Zelenskyy has offered a diplomatic opening.

Alyssa Demus, a defense researcher at RAND Corporation, looks at where the war stands now.
