Wyoming Stories: Sisters-In-Law Play Important Roles In The Local School

Micah Schweizer

Peg, Betty, and Dixie Johnson are sisters-in-law who married into an Elk Mountain ranching family. All three women played an important role in the local school. Peg and Dixie recall driving the school bus, Betty remembers moving to Elk Mountain as an untested school teacher.

Esther Seville is a Journalism major currently working on her bachelors degree. She has lived in Wyoming her whole life but has dreams of living somewhere warmer along the east coast. She has been going to the University of Wyoming for the past three years and is excited to spend her last year in Laramie as well. She has loved her experiences at Wyoming Pubic Radio so far, and is looking forward to spending the rest of the summer interning for them. She hopes to one day become a creative writer because she enjoys writing so much. When Esther isn’t working or taking classes, she enjoys reading, camping and spending time with her family and friends outdoors.
