Jamie Hampton

Cultural Affairs Intern

Jamie Hampton is going into her senior year in the Journalism program at the University of Wyoming. She has known since 5th grade that she wanted to write about musicians for a career and has been working toward that goal since then. She loves to go on hikes, drink coffee, spend time with family and friends, cuddle cats, and of course, attend concerts whether they are in the local music scene or across the country.

Jamie Hampton was born and raised in Wyoming, originally from Gillette but considers Cheyenne to be her hometown. She is incredibly in love with the state of Wyoming and hopes to get her masters in Communication at UW.

She has always been interested in podcasts and is looking forward to being able to contribute to Wyoming Public Media!

Karen Cotton

A new children’s book tells the story of the Cheyenne sheriff department’s K-9 unit. K-9 & Deputy Heroes of the Laramie County Sheriff’s Department focuses on the law enforcement agency's dogs and their handlers.

To write the book, author Karen Cotton partnered with deputies and sergeants in Cheyenne during trainings and a ride-along. Cotton said one of the reasons she wrote a non-fiction book for kids about a K-9 Unit is to show them the dogs aren’t as scary as they may seem.
