Throughout the weekend, Sheridan will be featured on C-SPAN during a series that highlights American cities. Crews from the television network visited earlier this summer to interview local officials and historians.
The C-SPAN Cities Tour presents "Sheridan Weekend" September 7 and 8.
The segments will focus on history, literature and the economy. They will feature subjects such as the Sheridan WYO Rodeo, coal mining and the Brinton Museum.
Sheridan Mayor Roger Miller was interviewed for the program, and he says it's a great opportunity for Sheridan to be in the national spotlight.
"Hopefully that will help us turn on some more tourism so people can be aware of where we are and who we are and why we're doing so well in rural part of America," Miller said.
Miller's segment will air on Friday, September 6. The programs will air on C-SPAN Book TV on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. and American History TV on Sunday at 12:00 p.m. The segments will also be available online indefinitely.
