The Wyoming Comprehensive Cancer Control Consortium will be starting the first statewide “Stupid Cancer” chapter to support young adult cancer survivors.
Jessica Perez, an outreach coordinator with the Wyoming Department of Health, says that “Stupid Cancer” events focus on having fun and networking with other survivors between ages 15-39.
“The major benefit is knowing that they’re not alone, and knowing that there’s someone they can talk to that’s going through the same thing they’re going through, as well as their significant others,” notes Perez.
“Stupid Cancer” is a nationwide non-profit organization that supports young adult cancer survivors with events, resource directories, and social media networks. Young adult survivors in Wyoming are encouraged to contact Perez directly by phone at 307-777-7362 or via email at Jessica.Perez@wyo.gov for more information.
