UW President Affirms Commitment To Inclusive Campus Community

University of Wyoming

In a message to University of Wyoming students, President Laurie Nichols affirmed her commitment to maintaining an inclusive campus community.

Both students and faculty asked UW for a public statement offering support for all people following last week’s presidential election and as reports of harassment and racial discrimination spiked nationwide. In her message, President Nichols said anyone who experiences an interaction that is disrespectful should report it to the Dean of Students Sean Blackburn. These incidents can also be reported to the Office of Equal Opportunity Report and Response.

Nichols said resources are available on campus for those feeling vulnerable or afraid, including the Multicultural Center and the Rainbow Resource Center in the Union. She also thanked faculty and staff for helping to make UW a safe and inspiring environment.

Other Universities, like Duke and Weber State, have made similar statements of campus inclusion.
