Cheyenne Audubon program May 20, 6:30 p.m.: Chris Madson, “From the Grass Up” Cheyenne Audubon invites the public for a free program, May 20 at 6:30 p.m. in the Cottonwood Room at the Laramie County Library, 2200 Pioneer Ave., featuring guest speaker Chris Madson. Chris, the retired, long-time, award-winning editor of Wyoming Wildlife magazine, will re-give his May 2024 Cheyenne-High Plains Audubon banquet talk, “From the Grass Up" that leads us through the fascinating history of the Audubon movement and highlights the Wyoming conservationists, such as Frank Bond, who were important in the early Audubon Society. Chris's talk will be professionally recorded and archived for public access at the Wyoming Heritage Center. How can we work together toward healthy communities and greater landscape integrity? Join us for the WYlder Festival to exchange ideas, tales, goods, and art dedicated to the future of Wyoming's open spaces.
This one-of-a-kind event from May 30–June 1 in Casper, Wyoming, will gather our statewide community —including citizens, Tribal members, businesses, organizations, and artists — to explore our collective role in caring for Wyoming's landscapes and people.
The WYlder Festival kicks off Friday afternoon with the WYlder Market, a vendor fair for anyone working at the intersection of ecosystem and community stewardship. Stop by David Street Station in downtown Casper from 5–8 p.m. on May 30 for some great conversations, artwork, music, and food.
The good times continue Saturday, May 31 at 8:30 a.m. with the WYlder Sessions at the Ramkota Conference Center, where you can learn about everything from Tribal civics to stewardship initiatives to public lands issues across the state. We'll round out the day with a keynote panel at Frontier Brewing at 5 p.m. to discuss working together in the Equality State.
Before you head home, join us Sunday morning, June 1, for bird watching with Audubon Rockies or participate in a river trail clean-up to give back to our hosting location.

Wyoming Writers, Inc., the state-wide writers' organization, will host its 2025 annual conference at the Ramkota Hotel in Casper, June 6 - 8, 2025. Several noted authors from the region as well as editors and agents will conduct workshops throughout the weekend, and attending writers will have opportunity to pitch book and magazine manuscripts and ideas to attending editors and agents. A Saturday evening banquet with a keynote address will take place as well as a membership meeting with awards distributed. The conference is open to writers and authors of all genres and abilities.
