Wyoming regulatory officials have cited Denver-based Western Sugar Cooperative for hazards at its Torrington and Lovell facilities.

The department of Workforce Services and Occupational Safety and Health Administration fined the company almost two hundred thousand dollars. The fines were for inadequate safety standards and failure to guard equipment, among other problems.

"In addition to one repeat serious violation, these inspections revealed thirty six other instances in which a serious hazard existed that the employer knew about, or should have know about," says Wyoming Workforce Services Director Joan Evans. "Western Sugar Cooperative and all Wyoming employers have a responsibility to keep their work site safe."

The inspections took place in February. Western Sugar Cooperative has until the beginning of August to pay or challenge the ruling.
