Wyoming Public Media’s Photo Contest Traveling Display will be heading your way this Spring and Summer. There are 14 framed pieces from Wyoming photographers that will be traveling to a town near you!
Carbon Capture and Storage from industrial sources and Direct Air Capture are key approaches being pursued to reduce atmospheric concentrations of CO2. Katherine Dombrowski is a process chemical engineer with Trimeric Corporation, a company that is one of the world’s leading experts in CO2 capture, purification, and compression. Katherine will discuss Trimeric’s project experiences in designing CO2 capture from power plants, ethanol plants, the air, and other sources, with a focus on the complexities of the integrated system from sources to transportation to sinks.

Western Wyoming Community College (Western) and the Exercise Science program will host the 8th annual 5k run (or walk), Run With Sandy, on Saturday, April 27. Registration will start at 8:30 a.m. at the Western Commons. Proceeds from the event are donated to Sweetwater Regional Cancer Center by Western’s Exercise Science program that runs the event.
Dr. Sandy Mitchell taught biology at Western for 28 years but passed away on May 8, 2017, from breast cancer. She was highly revered and loved by Western students and faculty alike. There are many accounts of Mitchell having a long-lasting impact on people’s lives. In honor of the lasting impact, she had on so many lives, a group of students created the event in her honor.
April 27 – Cheyenne Audubon field trip: Sage-Grouse lek viewing
Cheyenne Audubon will be visiting a nearby sage grouse lek April 27 and invites the public to join in the free field trip.
Participants will leave at 6 a.m. from the Lions Park parking lot between the Children’s Village and the picnic shelter and return well before noon. Viewing will be from a road northwest of town where spotting scopes will be set up. Bring a scope if you have one. Bring your own water and dress for the weather.
Please register for the field trip with Grant Frost, 307-343-2024, to receive updates due to weather. Let him know if you are interested in carpooling, as driver or passenger.

The Arts at Sheridan College presents their spring theater production (TBA) at the WYO Theatre on Saturday, April 27 at 7pm and Sunday, April 28 at 1pm.
America’s premier Elton John Tribute Show is coming to Riverton WY to raise much needed funds for the Riverton Animal Adoption Center!!! Join us on April 27th, 2024 for a truly amazing 2 hour concert that will have you on your feet and singing along to the music of the legendary Elton John performed by Jerred Price, who is one remarkable showman!! Tickets are $30 per person ($20 for students) and can be purchased at The Stock Doc, the Riverton Animal Adoption Center or at the door. Doors open at 6:00 pm, concert starts at 7:00 pm.
