Johnson County 6th Annual Weed Pull Day & Weed Bounty Program - Buffalo
The Community Weed Pull Event takes place on June 13, 2024. The Weed Pull Day will focus on pulling weeds on the Grouse Mountain Archery Range & the Mentock Trail. Meet at the William J. Mentock Trail overflow parking area at 1:00 PM.
The Weed Bounty Program runs from mid-May—July. Johnson County Weed and Pest will pay $1.00 per pound for spotted knapweed, houndstongue, and mullein and $1.25 for oxeye daisy and orange hawkweed. There are a few rules: Weigh-in/payments, bags, and program details can be picked up May-July during business hours Mon-Fri 9 am-4 pm at JCWP. Weeds must be bagged in clear bags supplied by JCWP. No payments will be made for plants collected in any other bag. Plants will be weighed; checks will be written at the end of the pull season. There is a $50 reward for verified new locations of ventenata or medusahead grasses. The top three pullers will receive an additional prize: 1st Place: $100; 2nd Place: $50; 3rd Place: $30.
