"Armed in the Wilderness" Exhibit Opening and Speaker - Laramie

The University of Wyoming’s American Heritage Center (AHC) invites the public to the opening of its newest exhibition, “Armed in the Wilderness: An Exhibit About Outdoor Recreation, Conservation, and the Women and Men Who Built the Literary Genre.” The exhibit examines literary works on outdoor recreation from the Toppan Rare Books Library dating back to 1704, which illustrate how hunting, fishing, and conservation topics have changed over time, including African hunting expeditions of elite Americans like Osa and Martin Johnson.

The evening will also feature speaker Conrad Froehlich, who served as director of the Martin and Osa Johnson Safari Museum in Chanute, KS for 36 years He is currently working on a book about the Johnsons.
