The Wyoming Game and Fish Department has launched a new way for the public to connect with the outdoors, using live web cameras throughout the state.

The first wildLIVE web camera is at the Speas Fish Hatchery located outside of Casper. Day or night, you can view the fish that the department raises and then take a dive into Wyoming waters to see them swimming around.

Rebekah Fitzgerald, the department's communication director, said people from Wyoming and around the world are interested in viewing Wyoming wildlife. She said the plan is to add more cameras in the next couple of months.

"We have developing partnerships with cameras so we can view the National Elk Refuge," she said. "We will also be placing cameras to view pronghorn and mule deer migration near Pinedale."

Fitzgerald said there were a couple of limiting factors when choosing locations.

"We want to do our best to capture where we know there will be wildlife," she said, "and then the other factor is connectivity."

The wildlife cameras can be viewed on the Wyoming Game and Fish's website.
