A bill that would allow those with concealed carry permits to have guns at schools, colleges, athletic events, and government meetings has received initial support from the Wyoming House of Representatives.
The House has approved a similar bill in the past and Thursday the bill passed with no debate. Evansville Republican says that’s because it’s been debated before.
“So I think everybody understood the bill and they knew where they were going to and I think the feeling of the House was we could debate it for an hour and nobody was going to change their mind, so we might as well just vote.”
The bill is opposed by the University of Wyoming and educational organizations due to safety concerns. Lyman Republican Allen Jaggi says Utah adopted a similar law 15 years ago and has had no problems. The bill will be debated two more times.
