New UW Cowboys Coach Says Winning Is Not Far Off

University of Wyoming Athletics

The University of Wyoming's new men's basketball coach Jeff Linder said he plans on developing a winning program quickly. Linder comes to Wyoming from the University of Northern Colorado where he led the Bears to three straight 20-win seasons.

The Cowboys have struggled the last two seasons, winning only six conference games in two years, but Linder said the team has a core that can win. He's looking forward to hitting the recruiting trail trying to add players who are good at three-point shots.

"We can do some special things, we can do some special things sooner rather than later. But we do need to add some pieces, I really value shooting. Shooting is not something I will sacrifice in recruiting," said Linder.

Linder will receive a five-year contract with a package that will earn him roughly $500,000 a year.
