Florida GOP Rep. Matt Gaetz told a large crowd in front of the Wyoming State Capitol that Congresswoman Liz Cheney should be defeated in the next election on Thursday. Gaetz lit into Cheney over her vote to impeach former President Donald Trump for his role in the Capitol insurrection. Cheney said she voted for impeachment because Trump threatened the republic.

Gaetz noted Wyoming voters strongly support Trump and asked why Cheney should be called a representative when she doesn't represent the will of the people.

"I think we should ask the same question of a beltway bureaucrat, turned fake cowgirl, who supports an impeachment that is deeply unpopular in the state of Wyoming," he said.

Gaetz also played a recording from Donald Trump Jr. who urged Wyomingites to get behind one opponent of Cheney's and not split the vote. Earlier in the day, the Wyoming Mining Association issued a statement in support of Cheney, joining the Wyoming Petroleum Association who also announced its support this week.
