The Wyoming Senate has cut all the funding for the state's breast and cervical cancer program. The cut came during a debate over the state budget. Sheridan Senator Dave Kinskey added that the program is not just for poor people, so people without insurance can access those funds.
"And if we start down that road, you go beyond Obamacare you end up with socialized medicine where you pay for everything for everybody regardless of means and regardless of resources," said Kinskey.
Laramie Senator Chris Rothfuss countered that the program saves lives.
"When we have a state program like this it's helping the people who need help. And we may not be doing a perfect job of helping those who only need help, but rest assured there are people who are having their lives saved because we have these programs on the books," he said.
The cut equals $1.5 million with half of that coming from the federal government.
