A renovation of the historic Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel in Yellowstone National Park is officially complete. The park celebrated its completion Labor Day weekend.

Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel was built in 1936 by Robert Reamer. It's the last structure built in Yellowstone by the architect who was most famous for building the Old Faithful Inn a little further south in the park.

The hotel still has some of its rustic charm said Micheal Keller, the general manager of the Xanterra Travel Collection. The company partnered with Yellowstone on the renovation. He said the highlight is the map room.

"It's a map of the U.S. made from over 15 kinds of wood representing each state, each state capital, and the major railroad and highway structures that were in place in the 1930s in the U.S.," he said.

Keller said the renovation also included a complete revamp of the electrical infrastructure.

"The old hotel with modern visitors coming into the park wanting to recharge their phones or take video or use their computer in the evening, the electric load was so strong that users would trip fuses and loose powers in their rooms," said Keller.

He said it also focused on reducing the hotel's carbon foot print.
