Bill To Create Pandemic Taskforce Fails In The House

Wyoming Legislature

The Wyoming House of Representatives has killed a billthat would have set up a taskforce to study the state's response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The bill would have put together lawmakers, county and tribal representatives, alongside people from the education, business and health care sectors to study how the state handled challenges brought on by COVID-19.

The bill would have also allowed the taskforce to make suggestions for how to improve responses in the future.

Supporters said the bill would have been a useful tool to bring together a variety of stakeholders to assess the state's response, while critics said it's not necessary.

The bill had been supported by the Wyoming County Commissioners Association and the governor's office.

The bill failed by 10 votes.
