Greg Hunter U.S. House Of Representatives Democratic Nominee

Greg Hunter

Democrat Greg Hunter will run against incumbent U.S. Congresswoman Liz Cheney in the general election in November. He won the Democratic nomination with 61 percent of the vote.

Hunter, a geologist by trade, said he won the Democratic nomination because as a progressive he is on the right side of history. He said after traveling around Wyoming, he believes there are a lot of inner democrats in the state.

“When I talk to a lot of people, they are afraid to register as Democrats but in the general, they are more likely to go for an independent candidate or a candidate that suits their needs.”

He said he’s the best person to help Wyoming prosper economically, which can be done by making Wyoming more progressive.

“I really do think that's the reason why a lot of young people don’t stay and no businesses come here,” Hunter said. “If Wyoming wants to attract business infrastructure and people and retain its’ children…it really has a great tax structure, it has great public education…it needs to continue to fund that.”

Hunter said his two main goals are health care and protecting public lands as well as making sure everyone has broadband in the state.

Incumbent U.S. Congresswoman Liz Cheney did not reply to Wyoming Public Media’s interview requests.
