Walter Echo-Hawk to speak on human rights in Native America

As part of the University of Wyoming Law Week, the College of Law is bringing in Walter Echo-Hawk to speak about human rights in Native America. Echo-Hawk is a lawyer and advocate for Native American rights and culture.

He says with the passing of the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples by the United Nations, there’s hope for optimism.

“This is really the first time that international law is really providing some international law protection for indigenous peoples,” says Echo-Hawk. “Because prior to this modern era international law had been used by nations to colonize indigenous lands across the globe.”

Echo-Hawk will be speaking at the UW College of Law at 6 pm this evening.
