Laramie residents will have a chance this Saturday to sample Ukrainian food, while supporting food aid for Ukrainian refugees.
Local defense attorney Linda Devine can occasionally be found serving up food from her Devine Eats food truck – and soon, her Devine Eats storefront in Laramie's downtown.
Devine aims to bring people together through food, and frequently hosts individual events to raise money for local nonprofits and other causes.
Capping off Laramie's weeklong International Flavor Festival, this Saturday Devine and her army of volunteers will be serving up Borscht soup, Vareniki dumplings and more.
All the money raised will go to World Central Kitchen – a humanitarian organization providing meals to those in disaster and war zones.
World Central Kitchen is currently providing meals to Ukrainian refugees in Poland.
"But my understanding is they're actually also going into Ukraine where it's war-torn right now, and just providing hot, warm meals to people," Devine said. "That's where our money's going to be donated to."
Devine said it's an inclusive event serving a good cause.
"No matter what your political beliefs are, I think we can all get behind just making sure folks have food to eat no matter what's going on," she said.
Devine will be following recipes provided by a Ukrainian student at the University of Wyoming. Those recipes come straight from the student's grandmother, who is currently still in Ukraine.
Devine Eats will open Saturday at 11 a.m. on Grand Avenue.
