Mountain West Voices: “On Walkabout”

From Mountain West Voices, Clay Scott tells about Laramie’s Paul Taylor.

Paul Taylor has been on walkabout for most of his adult life. He is an incredibly gifted storyteller and musician, and I met him as he was travelling from Laramie, Wyoming, to a school in Eureka, Montana to hold a week-long story-telling and art workshop.

Even more impressive than his teaching is the work he has been doing for many years with Wardaman elder Yidumduma Bill Harney, the Yubulyawan Dreaming Project. Keep an eye on Paul’s website – the Yubulyawan Dreaming Project website will soon go live, and it contains a wealth of cultural, linguistic and ecological material on the Wardaman culture, including rare photos of rock art, and video interviews with Yidumduma Bill Harney.
