Future Of Cody Labs Uncertain

Cody Labs

Last week, the Philadelphia-based Lannette Company, which owns Cody Labs, announced it will close all operations in Cody. Cody Labs produces generic prescription pain medications. But the actions of some in Cody may indicate workers and officials there are not giving up hope.

About 80 people are employed by Cody Labs. In the past couple of years, leadership at the Cody facility was working with the parent company to expand the operations in Cody. This involved getting a loan from the state.

But local officials said they are not commenting on the announcement of the closure until next week. State Senator Hank Coe said he’s hopeful that a total closure might be avoided, which could mean that officials may be working behind the scenes to keep it open. Coe added that despite what’s been reported, Cody Labs never got to the point where it needed to use state money.
