2014 was a record year for Grand Teton National Park visitations.

The national park had about 2.8 million recreational visits last year. The previous record holder, 1998 was beaten out by 34 thousand visits. Public Affairs Officer Jackie Skaggs says some of the factors that made the park so popular in 1990’s are surfacing again.

We're anticipating perhaps another bump during this current year we've just entered.

"Y’know when you think about it, the economy was doing well. It was probably several factors, maybe gas was low again in which that may make a difference for 2015 for us because of low gas prices," says Skaggs. "We’re anticipating perhaps another bump during this current year we’ve just entered."

Skaggs also says a heavier than average snowfall helped boost winter visitations last year.?
