Lots of interest in Wyoming Education Director post

A search firm says there is a lot of interest in Wyoming’s opening for a new Director of Education.  The position was created by the State Legislature to take over day to day operations of the State Department of Education.

Gary Ray of Ray and Associates is handling the search for the State Board of Education.  He says his firm has done similar searches in the past and Wyoming has a number of solid candidates.

“We reached out across the country as well as the state of Wyoming and we’ve had a very large response to the position," Ray said. "We’ve done a number of searches like this across the country and the response has been very great in terms of numbers and quality of candidates."

Ray would not say how many people applied for the job.  The State Board of Education will review the applicants on May 29. Governor Mead has until December first to choose a full time Director.
