Saying that too many people have died, Wyoming Gov. Mark Gordon issued a statewide mask order from Wednesday, Dec. 9 until Jan. 8, 2021.

Additional orders also close bars and restaurants at 10:00 p.m. and limit the amount of people in most of those facilities to 10 people. Exercise classes in gyms will also be reduced to 10.

State Health Officer Alexia Harrist said the idea is simple.

"The goals of these orders are to improve public health and slow and limit the transmission of COVID-19 and to increase the numbers of people who will be wearing masks in those public spaces," said Harrist.

Both Harrist and Gordon expressed concern about the limited numbers of hospital beds in the state and the impacts the virus has had on health care workers. The orders are being praised by state health care organizations.
