Caroline Lockhart was a famous and at time infamous Wyoming journalist and author. Her first job out of college in the early 1900s was as a "stunt girl" with the Boston Post.
It was her job to get sensational undercover stories for the newspaper.
Her assignments were ideal for a thrill-seeking young woman. She was the first woman to dive to the bottom of Boston Harbor in a diving suit. She even crawled into a lion's cage for an article.
She posed as a drug addict to enter Massachusetts's Home for Intemperate Women. She got the scoop about the institution's poor conditions but almost became a permanent inmate. Her editor had to swear she worked for him and demand her release.
