Archives On The Air 190: Holiday Greetings And Wyoming Memories—Carrie Arnold Papers

Your browser doesn’t support HTML5 audio

Carrie Arnold loved western history and used her artistic talent to portray sites and communities in the West.

In 1970, she began creating sketches for her friend Bill Lagos who shared her interest.

They decided to visually memorialize Bill's home area of Hartville and Sunrise in southeastern Wyoming.

From 1971 through 1997, most of Bill's holiday cards featured a Carrie Arnold sketch of the iron mining towns of Hartville and Sunrise.

Carrie relied on old photos for accuracy although at times took artistic license to lend a holiday feel to her art.
