High winds in West Laramie exacerbated a fire that started around 11 Monday morning and quickly spread to multiple buildings in a mobile home park. Local officials asked residents to evacuate as they worked to extinguish the fire which destroyed nine homes. No one was injured.

“The occupants of the trailer park have been evacuated or advised to evacuate to the Albany County Fairgrounds,” Laramie Fire Department Shift Commander Kevin Lam said Monday afternoon. “There’s gonna be a meeting at 5 o’ clock hosted by Albany County EMA [Emergency Management Agency] that will give information about what happens next as far as return to the park and information for the displaced occupants.”

At yesterday's meeting, the Red Cross offered assistance to residents whose homes had burned. Other local organizations are working to help absorb the financial burden of the fire.

“There has been an account set up with Interfaith Good Samaritan here in Laramie, if people want to help with monetary donations,” Lam said.

The other residents of Wade's Mobile Manor were allowed to return home later that evening. Shift Commander Kevin Lam said the cause of the fire is still unknown.
