The Wyoming unemployment rate continues to stay the same, and job growth is also flat. The October rate rose slightly from the September rate of 4.5 percent.
Economist David Bullard with the Department of Workforce Services says counties such as Laramie, Converse Natrona, and Teton continue to see steady job growth, but statewide job growth is not strong.
“We are seeing job losses in oil and gas and also coal mining,” Bullard said. “Job gains in accommodation and food services, retail trade, health care, a number of sectors. I guess the challenge is that not all the areas where we are growing are high paying jobs. I mean some are, but many aren’t.”
Bullard says Fremont County had the highest unemployment rate at 5.5 percent. Converse had the lowest at 3.1 percent.
