The Wyoming House of Representatives narrowly defeated a bill that would have kept local government from banning guns from open meetings. It surrounded a ban implemented by the Casper City Council.
Evansville Republican Kendell Kroeker offered a bill that would have led to sanctions for entities that implemented a gun ban.
But Gillette Republican Tom Lubnau said that the bill was poorly written. He pointed out one inconsistency: "If you riot or create a disturbance without a gun the city officials can take away the weapon. If you riot or disturb the piece with a gun the official is fired and the city can be sued up to $200,000 plus attorney fees.”
The measure failed to acquire the necessary two-thirds support for introduction.
