Enrollment for marketplace health insurance is open until January 15. Even with this extended deadline, there has been an increase in Wyomingites who have signed up for health insurance this year.
Cynthia Nunley is with Enroll Wyoming, which is a grant-supported nonprofit that helps Wyomingites get health insurance.
"As of December 15, which was the first cutoff date, we had 33,000 plans chosen. And that was up from 26,600, the year before," said Nunley.
That's 24 percent more people who have signed up for health insurance than last year.
Nunley said one reason why this may be the case is because of changes to the Affordable Care Act by the American Rescue Plan.
"We've done away with the cap on how much income an individual or family can make," said Nunley. "And it's much more attuned to a percentage of income. So eight and a half percent or less should be spent on health coverage."
Those that sign up between December 16 and January 15, won't get coverage until February. Residents can call 211 to find out more information on health insurance and about events throughout the state.
