A statewide men's health surveyis trying to improve health resources for gay, bisexual and pansexual men in Wyoming. This is the first survey focusing on this population in the state.
The survey asks questions on access to care, whether you feel comfortable talking to your doctor about issues in and around sexual activities, among many others. It is being funded by the Wyoming Department of Health Communicable Disease Unit and conducted by Waller Hall Research in Greybull.
Jeff Henne, president of Waller Hall Research, said there hasn't been much research on the gay male community in the state.
"So to have the ability to see how this information stacks up against the general population is going to be huge, and I think it'll identify needs for future research and programs," he said.
Henne says it will be especially important to understand how much this community knows about HIV, like the fact that if HIV is undetectable that means it is not transmittable. So far about 100 men have taken the survey. Henne said they are hoping for about 400 by the end of October.
