UW Trustees Name 3 Finalists In Presidential Search

The University of Wyoming Board of Trustees has chosen three finalists to be considered for the University presidency.

They released the names Friday, after nearly eighth months of planning and executing the search.

The finalists are Jeremy Haefner, a provost at Rochester Institute of Technology, Duane Nellis, president of Texas Tech University and Laurie Nichols, a provost at South Dakota State University.

Board member Dave Bostrom chaired the committee that selected the finalists.

“I think if you look at the quality of the final slate of candidates, it’s obvious that the University of Wyoming presidency is a job that’s sought after by very high quality individuals,” Bostrom says.

The three candidates will visit the campus beginning Monday, December 7 and will participate in several public forums and meetings with the UW community.

The Board is seeking public input—at those meetings and through online surveys.

UW’s Board of Trustees could meet and decide to offer someone the job soon after the final candidate visits campus on December 14.
