RON CAMPBELL

One of the animators for The Beatles Yellow Submarine movie and several other children’s cartoon series will be coming to Casper and Cheyenne this week.

In his fifty-year career, Ron Campbell not only worked on the Beatles film, but on Scooby Doo, Sesame Street, The Flintstones, Rugrats, The Smurfs, The Jetsons, and more. He says cartoon work was always collaborative.

“Everybody that works in animation is very aware of this and knows this. So no one person can take credit for an entire film. Never can they do that,” said Campbell.

Now, he sells original paintings of the cartoons on which he worked. He said even though he has stepped away from animating, he enjoyed his career immensely.

“I’m particularly proud of the work I did on Sesame Street, and I’m especially proud of the work I did on my own show called The Big Blue Marble, which was a show all through the 70s and early 80s. My studio produced all of the animation for that show,” he said.

The Big Blue Marble ran on PBS stations and won a Peabody Award and multiple Emmys. Campbell will visit Art 321 in Casper this Tuesday and Wednesday evening, and will be at the Clay Paper Scissors Gallery in Cheyenne Friday through Sunday.
