Laramie will receive nearly $5.5 million to build a technology park in the city. The grant is one of five the Wyoming Business Council recommended to the State Loan and Investment Board, or SLIB, and today SLIB approved it. In total, SLIB approved almost $10 million for projects around the state.
Laramie Economic Development Corporation’s Board Chair, Megan Goetz, says now the pressure is on to make the project a reality.
“We’ve put this project together with a lot of planning and a lot of data. We believe that we certainly have the market there to make it a success. But personally, and on behalf of LEDC, every one of us wants to realize the capital return and the return on investments that the state has made in us. So certainly there’s the pressure there, but we believe in it and we believe it’s going to be a success.”
Goetz says construction should begin this spring and last for 12 to 15 months. She says some companies have already expressed interest in reserving space in the technology park, and now that it’s official the LEDC will start marketing the park more aggressively.
